Luanshya Council seals K1.8 million CDF deal with local contractors

The Luanshya Municipal Council has signed a K1.8 million, contract with seven local contractors to execute various Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in various parts of the District.

Luanshya Town Clerk Zakeyo Mbao said that the projects were being financed under the 2021 Luanshya District CDF allocation.

Mr Mbao was speaking during the signing ceremony between the local authority and representatives of the contractors held at the Civic Centre, he also said that the Council has started the process for the execution of 2022 financed CDF projects and float the tenders for the 2022 CDF projects.

He said the signed contracts were binding on the part of the contractor and Council as the funds were available and there was no room for excuse of failure.

The Town Clerk said all contractors were required to undertake their works within the specified time frame for executing the various projects.

Mr Mbao has challenged the local contractors to prove that they could perform their work professionally and that non-performers would be excluded in any future projects.

He advised local contractors to stick to contract guidelines and desist from making excuses for any poor performance.

Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony Quick Merchant Zambia Limited Managing Director Moses Sikazwe commended the Council management for following the lain down procedures when awards the CDF contracts.

Mr Sikazwe noted that selected local contractors were committed to executing the various CDF projects according to the contracts specifications.

He assured the Council management that all the contractors were set to deliver the CDF projects without any challenges.

In Luanshya Central Constituency the approved CDF projects are: the construction of toilets at Mikonfwa market by Quick Merchant Zambia at a cost of K410, 148-85, Fisenge Clinic boundary wall fence construction at a cost of K194, 485-00 by Skill Tech Construction and Engineering Company.

The other projects are the rehabilitation of Kalala market shelter at a cost of K134, 332-90 by JSC General Dealers. The Luanshya Central projects also include rehabilitation of Buseko Market shelter at a cost of K299, 256-35 by DCK Engineering Services.

The approved projects from Roan Constituency include: The construction of one by three classroom block at Mansansa West Primary School by T and M Engineering at a cost of K350, 000-00.The construction of Kawama market shelter by Jucitech Zambia limited at a cost of K326,083.23 and the installation of a gen set Roan General Hospital by Mishmark Zambia limited at a cost of K101,127.97
