By MAIMBO MWEEMBA

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has dispelled media claims that the high value vehicles seized last week Friday in Choma and Lusaka belong to South African businessman James Ndambo.

Dec Director Mary Chirwa said that none of the vehicles are registered in Mr Ndambo’s name.

Ms Chirwa has since assured Zambians that the commission is not playing politics, but is instead executing it’s mandate.

Last week, reports surfaced that DEC had pounced on renowned Businessman Ndambo’s premises in Choma and Lusaka where they seized Seven vehicles which included a Mercedes Benz, Lexus, BMW and Toyota Land Cruiser.

Among the the Mercedes Benz and BMW were awarded to two finalists of the Miss My Home Town beauty pageant which was held in Choma on July 2nd, 2022.

And, Ms Chirwa said that on Friday last week, DEC received information about high value vehicles parked in Lusaka and the said vehicles were seized.

She said the said vehicles are registered in other business names and not one of them is Mr Ndambo’s.

“The commission established that none of the vehicles seized are registered in the name of Mr Ndambo.

As DEC we would like to dispute social media claims that the vehicles are his.We assure you that we are not playing politics , but are executing our mandate,” she said.

Ms Chirwa also said the commission would carry on with further investigations in the matter, but that they should be given time to execute professional works.
