CMC set to burry 3 unclaimed bodies

Chingola Municipal Council Public Relations Manager says the council has received a request to burry 3 unclaimed bodies and 2 foetus (twins) that have been lying in Nchanga North General Hospital Mortuary.

Ms Mulenga said that the Municipal Council has since given 14 days to relatives of the unclaimed bodies to claim/identify any of the bodies and conduct burial.

The unclaimed bodies are of 1 adult female Eunice Botha, 2 unknown Adult males and 2 foetus (twins).

“Council is hereby giving its intention to bury the bodies as in accordance with the provisions of Section 16 (2), Paragraph 7, Sub-paragraph (b) of the First Schedule of the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019 read together with section 27 (1)(d) of the Public Health Act Cap  295 of the Laws of Zambia,” she said.

Ms Mulenga said at the expiry of the assigned period, all bodies that will not be claimed shall be buried at Kasompe Cemetery.

“Council is appealing to members of the public who may be missing their relatives or friends to engage the hospital management for possible identification of the body,” she said.
