Albino’s forefinger cutoff by unknown persons

Police in Mkushi have launched a manhunt for three men who allegedly cut off the finger of a 10-year-old boy living with albinism.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said a man only identified as Kendrick of Mkushi and two other unknown persons are wanted for the offense of Grievous Bodily Harm.

Mr Hamoonga said the victim’s forefinger of his left hand was chopped off using a sharp instrument by three persons.

He said brief facts of the matter are that the victim was left home with his fellow minors at Chilomo area after his parents went to church.

Mr Hamoonga said whilst at church the parents received information about the incident and they rushed home where they found the victim crying and his fore finger of the left hand missing.

He said the victim told the father that Kendrick came with other two unknown person’s home and Kendrick called the victim to come close to them and immediately he did, the other two held him and cut off his fore finger using a big sharp scissors and knife.

“The three suspects went away with the victim’s finger. Later the victim was rushed to Mkushi District Hospital where he is admitted,”  he said.

Mr Hamoonga said this occurred on June 25, 2022 between 09:00 hours and 11:00 hours at Chilomo area.

“We are appealing to the general public that may have information that may lead to the apprehension or successful prosecution of the suspects to report to Mkushi police station or any nearest police station,” he said.

Investigations have been instituted to bring the suspects to book.
