GOVT RECOGNISES ROLE OF CHURCH

Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office Patrick Mucheleka says the church has always been a key stakeholder in spearheading development in the country.

Mr Mucheleka said government attaches great importance to the works done by the church in the country.

He said the Catholic Church in Northern Province has been very instrumental in the provision of educational, and health services to the people.

Mr Mucheleka said this during the ordination ceremony of seven catholic priests which was held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kasama.

Archbishop of Kasama Diocese Ignatius Chama has commended government for its continued acknowledgement of the church.

Archbishop Chama urged the newly ordained priests to be diligent in their service to God and the people.
