5 dangerous criminals nabbed in N/Western

Police in Western Province have arrested five suspected criminals and recovered one AK 47 Rifle in connection with the murder cases that have rocked Mitete District in the recent past.

Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the suspects were apprehended after Police conducted a raid in the District with the help of the members of the public and managed to recover one AK47 Rifle in the process.

Mr Hamoonga said the rifle was loaded with one round of ammunition.

He has identified the suspects as Chinyama Kayawe 30 of Samafu village, Mayombo Kamizhi 35, of Samawama village, Douglas Namunji 35, of Kakulanda village, Liambi Nasilele 48, of Kakulanda village and Chinyemba Chinyemba 37, of Lufuma village all of Mitete district in Western Province.

Mr Hamoonga said all the suspects are detained in police custody as investigations are still on-going.

In another development, Police in Kaoma, Western Province have arrested a 45 traditional healer identified as Kebby Pooto of Kapulanga compound in Mongu district for the offence of unlawful confinement and obtaining goods by false pretenses.

He said it is alleged that the suspect has been carrying out divining activities in the area by naming and confirming people to be practicing witchcraft and thereafter got animals as payment.

The suspect is in police custody awaiting court appearance.
