Nchanga Member of Parliament has called on Local Contractors to ensure that they work on time and provide the professional results.

Speaking when he toured Kapisha Bridge, Mr Chilundika said that he was satisfied that the local authority engineering team was happy with the construction works that have been done on the bridge.

Kapisha Bridge, which is along the main road that leads to Kapisha cemetery was washed away by heavy rains a few weeks after completion which resulted in residents airing out their displeasure over the works that was done.

And, contractor on site, Joshmu enterprise said that they worked within the given time which was four months.

Joshmu boss Joshua Mwanda said that it was surprising to see that the issue was politicked and taken out of context when the cause was purely natural.

He said works stalled after the bridge was awash because of the heavy rains which made it hard for the washed part to be worked.

Mr Mwanda said the affected area has been worked on and the bridge is now intact and works have been done according to the scoop of work.

And, Mr Chilundika called on opposition politicians to always seek technical clarification to avoid misleading the general citizenry.

He also advised the technical engineers to communicate through the Municipal Council Public Relations office when future works are stalled due to various reasons to avoid uproars from residents.

Mr Chilundika, who is also Luapula Province Minister, said that using CDF, government has approved the construction of a police post that will service Kapisha and Kabuta wards.

He said that the same Kapisha cemetery road will be upgraded to bituminous standards as promised during campaigns.

Mr Chilundika encouraged Nchanga residents to continue supporting government as it is walking the talk.
