By MAIMBO MWEEMBA
Government has released an additional over K19m Kwacha to enable the Tanzania Zambia Railways (TAZARA) dismantle part of the salary arrears.

Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali says the funds will cater for payroll related salary payments.

Mr Tayali said government will continue addressing the challenges of TAZARA until the business is made sustainable.

In April 2022, Government released K18m towards salary arrears for TAZARA workers.

And, Mr Tayali said Government and TAZARA management have already started works on the Chambishi Bridge which is expected to be operational by end of July 2022.

In December 2021, President Hakainde Hichilema issued a directive that a lasting solution for all challenges affecting the smooth operations of TAZARA should be found, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.

This is according to a statement released by Ministry of Transport and logistics Public Relations Officer Ndubi Mvula.
