Snr Chief Kanongeshe put to rest

By CLOZZEN BIKALE
Senior Chief Kanongesha of the Lunda speaking people in Mwinilunga District has been put rest.

And President Hakainde Hichilema said he is concerned with the increase in succession wrangles in chiefdoms.

The Head of State has further assured traditional leaders that government will not interfere in the affairs of traditional leaders.

Mr Hichilema has challenged the Kanongesha Royal establishment to prove that traditional leaders can manage their affairs by not having succession wrangles as they find a replacement for the late Senior Chief.

The President said this in a speech read on his behalf by North Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu at the burial of Senior Chief Kanongesha.

And Mwata Kazembe of Luapula Province has called on the Lunda Royal establishment to follow their tradition when installing a successor to the throne and avoid succession disputes.

In a speech read on his behalf by Chief Kashiba, Mwata Kazembe has urged the people of Mwinilunga to remain united and mourn the late traditional leader in peace.
