Luanshya father tortures son

A 4-year-old boy, of Freedom Compound in Luanshya , Copperbelt, has been hospitalised, after he was severely beaten by his father.

The juvenile was hanged upside-down to a Mango tree, before he was severely beaten, over the weekend, for allegedly leaving home to play with his friends.

The boy also sustained swollen arms, legs and general body pains.

An eyewitness, Baxter Banda, who reported the incident to Buntungwa police post, said the incident happened around 09:30 hours.

Mr Banda said that he discovered the incident, when he heard the boy’s agonising cries and rushed to see what was happening.

He narrated that he then found the father of the minor, identified as Richard Chomba, ruthlessly beating his son with a stick, while tied to a tree.

Mr Banda said that he rescued the boy and rushed him to the hospital, where he was asked to report the matter to the police.

And, Copperbelt Province Acting Police Commissioner, Sharon Zulu could not confirm the incident, saying the report had not reached her office by press time.
