CCM awards employees for May 1st

China Copper Mines (CCM) has awarded some of its employees for this year’s Labour Day.

Speaking at the award ceremony, CCM managing director Richard Zhang says the past two years, the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic has made a very tough time for the company.

Mr Zhang said despite the effects of Covid 19 the company has seen a number of significant achievements due to the efforts of all the employees.

He also said that for the first time, the company has commemorated the world Labour day in this style. And he wish to deepen the company culture through such good event.

Mr Zhang said this year’s Labour Day has come at a time when the company has recorded significant achievements in every corner of the mine due to the workers contribution.

He commended the employees and their family, and wished the employees to grow with company. And improve working and living condition is always a common will for company and employees.

The awards given were Smart phones, refrigerators, bicycles, electric tricycles, and laptops.

And, speaking at the same ceremony, CCM shareholder Mr Yu said the mines vision and mission is to bring the Zambian and Chinese cultures together through localization and internationalization.

Mr Yu said that the mine also strives to provide decent job creation to create a harmonious industrial relationship.

“We value the work of our employees that is why we have awarded the deserving, this should not demotivate those that have not been awarded but should inspire them, let us continue working hard so that our mine ranks among one of the best in Zambia’’ he said.

Mr Yu said improvements of high productivity have been achieved because of the dedication of the employees.

He said CCM has since achieved its target for the first quart of the year and aims to provide better working conditions for the employees and other welfare.

Mr Yu also said that mine endeavors to create a win-win situation, and sustainable development in mining operations.

“I want to encourage the employees to strive to work hard so that the company’s vision of continued growth and improving the employees’ welfare is achieved, the mines achievements are made possible through the dedication of every employee, we appreciate and value all our employees,” he said.

And in giving vote of the thanks, one the recipients of the awards Anthony Masumba encouraged fellow employees to remain united.

Mr Masumba said that it’s only through team work that the company can grow and achieve its mission.

He said that the employees are pleased that the company’s management values and appreciates their contribution to the development of the mine.

This year’s Labour Day theme is accelerating social economic transformation through sustainable and decent job creation amidst Covid 19.
