A Foreign Service Institute in Zambia has noted that the New Dawn Government’s foreign policy gives hope as it will increase trade and investment.
Rhoma Institute of Foreign Relations Executive Director Cornelius Lengwe says the Official Visit by the Democratic Republic of Congo – DRC President Félix Tshisekedi is important in promoting intra- regional trade.
Mr Lengwe is happy that during the Visit, President Hichilema and President Tshisekedi presided over the official signing of a Bilateral Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He says DRC is key to Zambia’s trade growth because the two countries need to increase Africa’s share of the battery, electric vehicles and renewable energy value chain.
Mr Lengwe has further urged President Hichilema to engage his Angolan counterpart in order to actualize plans for the importation of affordable fuel from the neighbouring country.
