Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia Moses Moyo says National assembly has embarked on reformative programs to bring Parliament closer to the people by constructing constituency offices in all the twelve Constituencies in North Western province.
Mr Moyo said plans are underway to start the construction of a constituency office for Solwezi constituency to enable the people access information regarding the Constituency.
He said Solwezi is the strategic point where people can have access to Parliament and information hence the need to build a Constituency office.
The second Deputy Speaker however mentioned that as national assembly they have plans to take Parliament television and Parliament radio across all the 150 Constituencies of Zambia and ensure that they run 24 hours service all week.
“We are in north western province to appreciate the challenges constituency offices are facing and interact with the constituency officers,” he said.
And North Western Province Permanent Secretary Grandson Katambi said North Western Province is one of the Provinces with vast constituencies which makes it difficult for area members of Parliament-MP’s to finish visiting their people in the their various constituencies.
He said that some places in these Constituencies are not accessible especially during rain seasons making it more difficult for MPs to have access to their Constituencies.
“Am appealing to your office to consider conducting the delimitation process of some of the vast Constituencies and create more to Forster Development for the people in the province,” he said.
