Chingola Zesco cable thief pleads not guilty

A-29-year old man of Chingola who was found with 56 pieces of Zesco Copper cables in his car worth k15,700 has pleaded not guilty to one count of theft.

Humphrey Chikombe of 4316 off Katunga road Chikola Loop area appeared for mention yesterday before Magistrate Shadreck Chanda.

Particulars of the offense are that Chikombe on March 31, 2022 between 24:00 hours and 03:30 hours at Lulamba Complex stole 17 meters copper cables valued at k15,700 property of ZESCO limited.

After investigations, Chikombe was found with 56 pieces of Copper cables in his Toyota Chaser motor vehicle, 22 meters shell wires in his other car and a half sack of cable covers within his yard.

Magistrate Chanda adjourned the matter to April 29, 2022 for commencement of trial.
