Zambia Airways launched in Solwezi

Zambia Airways has launched its first inaugural flight between Solwezi and Lusaka; this comes after its first relaunch on December 1st, 2021.

And Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali says the expansion to Solwezi, makes an important validation of the new down government’s belief in and use of public private partnership’s (PPP) to deliver infrastructure and public services.

Mr Tayali said Zambia has huge untapped Investment opportunities in the aviation sector as the country is situated to be an aviation hub.

He said that Zambia Airways flight to Solwezi will act as drivers of the region economy and ensure the growth of the Region.

“My ministry looks forward to being an enabler of National growth through National Carrier, because Government has assured the airline of its unwavering support,” he said.

The board of directors have set goals of operating 12 sites of the art aircrafts that will carry over 1.9 Million passengers by the year 2028.

And North Western Province Minister, Robert Lihefu said the first inaugural flight will contribute to the country’s Domestic Gross Product.

Mr Liefu said a lot economic opportunities and the nature resources such as the mines Timba and agricultural products that can support the sustainability of the flight.

“The coming of the Zambia airways will create job opportunities to the local people especially the Youths, we appreciate the Zambia Airways management for considering opening the flight Route to North Western Province, he said.

And, Board Chairman Zambia Aviation Bonaventure Mutale said the Zambia airways is stretching its wings to newer destination and has promised the country to be the captain of success.

“Zambia airways plans to extend its flights to other provincial centers in other provinces in Mansa, Chipata ,  Kasama and Mongu provinces,” he said.
