RB’S HUMILITY AN INSPIRATION TO ALL-HH

President Hakainde Hichilema says Fourth President Rupiah Banda will be remembered for his humility.

President Hichilema says Mr Banda did not segregate people even when they held different views from his.

He was speaking at the State funeral church service for Mr Banda who died last week.

President Hichilema said Mr Banda had the ability to create a calm atmosphere even when there was tension.

He has urged young people to learn from freedom fighters and foster socio economic development.

President Hichilema said there is need to love one another and work together.

He has thanked the family for working closely with Government to give Mr Banda a befitting sendoff that he deserved.

President Hichilema also thanked foreign dignitaries who have attended Mr Banda’s funeral.

The President said Mr Banda will also be remembered for his integrity, unity and peace to breed harmony.

He said President Banda always looked at people from a positive side.

And the Widow Thandiwe said she is thankful to God for the opportunity she shared with Mr Banda for the last 20 years.

Mrs Banda who said this in a speech read for her by a close family friend Alice Banda said her husband’s life was larger than life and he will be greatly missed for all the joy he brought into their lives.

And Children and grandchildren of Mr Banda also eulogised him.

Meanwhile Mr Banda’s longest friend of 71 years Jacob Mwanza said his legacy is incomplete without recognising that he had a generous heart and wanted to help and better the lives of others.

And in a sermon preached by the Dean and Vicar General of Anglican Diocese of Lusaka, Canon Reverend Charlie Thomas said Mr Banda’s life should be celebrated because he ran his race and managed to leave a rich legacy .

Canon Thomas said Mr Banda practiced what Jesus taught without realising it and ran his race faithfully. ZNBC
