Economic Front Party (EFP) shortage of medicnes in most clinics and hospitals across the county is saddening.
EFP Spokesperson Humphrey Kabwe said that the ccording to the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) president Brian Sampa the health system may collapse due to serious shortages of drugs in most of the health facilities around the country.
Mr Kabwe said that the news is an embarrassment to President Hakainde Hichilema who has spent much of his time talking and blaming the previous Government instead of fulfilling his campaign promises of improving the health systems in the country.
“It is unfortunate, that we have a Government spending much of its time on making speeches on Facebook, TV and Radio station instead of addressing real issues such as ensuring that the health facilities are fully equipped with necessary tools and drugs,” he said.
Mr Kabwe said that President Hichilema should to stop blame game governance and begin to fulfill his campaign promises of improving the health care system in the country.
“The Zambian people did not vote for you to be making endless Speeches but to do better than the previous leadership. It is sad to hear six months down the line the health facilities is on the edge of collapse under your watch,” he said
Mr Kabwe said that the EFP has since appealed to Government to procure necessary drugs to avoid any disaster in health facilities.
But, the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary says health facilities will be stocked with medicines next week, as government has made purchasing orders.
Professor Laskson Kasonka said that the delay in stocking medicines in the facilities has been as a result of putting the procurement process in order.
He said the previous procurement arrangements were mud with problems, stating that the honeybee story came up for the same reason.
Professor Kasonka sid that before, medicines were being procured at Ndeke house, by the Permanent Secretary, but that is not the case anymore.
Currently there reports that Health facilities countrywide have been affected by a severe shortage of drugs, which has irked citizens.
