Peace is vital-HH

President Hakainde Hichilema says it is difficult to drive Africa’s economic agenda without peace and stability on the continent.

Mr Hichilema said this is because wars make it difficult for governments to deliver to their people’s expectations.

Speaking when he met Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdisaid Muse Ali at state house, President Hichilema said his administration wants to build on the existing people to people and country to country relations with Somalia.

“The Somali community in Zambia has had a strong presence in business,” he said.

President Hichilema said despite being a new government his emphasis is on promoting peace as instability anywhere is volatility everywhere.

And, Mr Ali who said the presence of Somali Businessmen in Zambia is a clear indication of the strong ties between the two countries.

He said his President Mohamed has sent him to inform President Hichilema that he wants to visit Zambia after the elections in that country for mutual benefit of the two countries.

Mr Ali also delivered a message of condolence from his President to Mr Hichilema on the passing of fourth Zambian President Rupiah Banda.

He was accompanied by Somali Ambassador to Zambia Hawa Mohammed Hassan Ali is in the country for a one day visit and is expected to leave tomorrow.
