Government has cancelled all events and social gatherings in honor of the Fourth Republican President Rupiah Banda, who died yesterday.
Information and Media Minister Chushi Kasanda says the decision to cancel the activities is to allow the nation to mourn a man she has described as a gallant soldier of the nation.
Speaking at a press briefing,Ms Kasanda said there will be NO match past or football matches to be held countrywide in commeration of the Youth Day.
She also said that all flags will fly at half-mast during the period of national mourning.
Mr Banda died yesterday at his home in Lusaka’s Makeni area around 19 hours.
Mr Banda became President of Zambia in 2008 after the death of Levy Mwanawasa.
