Chililabobwe Mayor Lucky Sichone has urged parents not to detect careers for their children but allow them choose for themselves.
Mr Sichone said that children should be given a choice to choose what they want to be so that the flourish.
He said this at MacLaren Private School Careers day where he was Guest of Honour.
The Mayor said parents should encourage their children to be on the right career path.
Mr Sichone encouraged the children to study hard to be successful in their career path.
He said it is also important to see to it that children choose a career path at a small age so that the career is nurtured.
And Maclaren School Director Eunice Mwale said that the school understands the importance of nurturing careers at a tender age.
Ms Mwale said that her school gives importance to careers hence this day for the pupils to show case themselves.
She urged parents to work with teachers to help children in identifying better career path
Education Standard Officer for open and distance learning Mr Joackim Mulenga said that Maclaren is supplementing on government effort of providing quality education.
Mr Mulenga said the school has been handy in it academic performance of its pupils hence awarded the grade seven examinations center for grade sevens.
He said the school teaching is moving away from traditional way of teaching but going the career path.
