Six armed robbers have broken into a house belonging to the Comboni Catholic priests situated on Chizongwe road in Chipata District and stole K144 000 cash, two laptops and three cellphones.
Acting Eastern Province deputy police Commanding officer Kennedy Chibwe said the robbers gained entry into the house through the main gate which was open as the priests were having supper between 19:00 and 20:00 hours on Tuesday.
Mr Chibwe said the laptops and the three cellphones are valued at K24 000.
He appealed to members of the public not to keep huge amounts of money in the house but in the bank.
Mr Chibwe said police are investigating the matter.
