National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) in Solwezi has said as untrue the statement by Stone King Company Manager Gregory Tembo of delayed pay for over forty workers.
This comes after the manager said the workers were engaged to refurbish NAPSA building in Solwezi and payment was delayed three by NAPSA.
And NAPSA Head of Corporate Affairs Cephas Sinyangwe said the attribution to nonpayment by NAPSA is completely untrue because the authority is contractually up to date with all payments to the contractor.
Mr Sinyangwe said the Authority engaged Stone king Company to undertake the refurbishment of Provident House in Solwezi in 2021 at a total contract sum of K3.7 million.
He said according to the contract, NAPSA pays the contractor by the process of Interim Payment Certificates (IPC) which are submitted on a monthly basis.
“So far, the contractor has issued four IPCs, including Advanced Payment and all of them have been paid” he said.
Mr Sinyangwe said following the practical completion inspection that was done on January, 13th 2022, the final IPC was issued on 9 February, 2022 and the final payment is currently being processed.
He said the project commenced in May 2021 and was completed in January 2022 at a total contract sum of K3.7 million.
On February 21, 2022 over 40 workers engaged by Stone King Company stormed the Solwezi District Commissioner’s office seeking government intervention for their alleged three months nonpayment by Stone King Company contracted by NAPSA to refurbish NAPSA Solwezi.
