The Station Manager at Petroda filling Station in Solwezi is battling for his life after he was shot by armed robbers.
The Manager who is a Sudanese National was attacked by three unknown criminals when he was taking money to the bank.
He sustained two gunshot wounds and is admitted to Solwezi General Hospital.
North Western Police Acting Commanding Officer Fred Mulenga has confirmed the development to the media in Solwezi.
Dr Mulenga said the incident occurred Today around 09:00hrs at Petroda Filling Station in Kimiteto area in Solwezi.
He said that three unknown criminals attacked Muhammed Hassan 41, a Sudanese National.
” The three unknown Criminals attached Mr Hassan when he was leaving his office to deposit Money to the bank. Whilst outside preparing to leave, three unknown people emerged from no where armed with a Pistol,” he said.
Dr Mulenga said the Manager was shot twice as he was trying to escape and one bullet hit him on his left shoulder while the other one on his right ribs.
He said the criminals managed to go with a bag containing undisclosed amounts of Money.
The victims was rushed to Solwezi General Hospital for urgent treatment.
Dr Mulenga said the Police quickly swung in action and with the help of the members of the public one suspect was apprehended and a Pistol Taurus by make, serial number ABJ900034, black in colour, has been recovered from the scene.
He said the suspect was apprehended with the help the public who upon interviewed by the police said his name was Stallone Mumba 25, of Mushibwe village of Kalumbila.
Dr Mulenga said the docket is opened, one arrest made but the Money has not been recovered.
He said investigations into the matter is still underway to bring the other two suspects to book.
