Police in Choma have gunned down two suspects connected to the killing of a prominent Choma business man, Mabvuto Mwanza, late last year.
Southern Province Police Deputy Commanding Officer Alfred Nawa says the suspects Charles Wipo and Enock Masumbuko, a Congolese national, were gunned down during an exchange of fire when they attempted to commit another robbery in Kitwe’s Ndeke Township.
Mr Nawa said the police were able to track the two criminals following a tip from the Zambia Information Communication and Technology Authority -ZICTA- on the whereabouts of the two assailants.
He said that the police also recovered two unregistered AK 47 rifles suspected to have been used in other related crimes.
Meanwhile, two other suspects connected to the murder of the businessman and disclosed the details of their colleagues who were gunned down are still in police custody and will appear in court soon.
Mr Nawa has called on the public to cooperate with police and hand over any unregistered firearms in their possession. ZANIS.
