Melu elected as BAZ chairperson

The Bankers Association of Zambia (BAZ) has elected ABSA Bank Chief Executive Officer Mizinga Melu as its Chairperson for the second time.

BAZ Chief Executive Officer Leonard Mwanza said Ms Melu was elected on February, 15th during the 2022 Annual General Meeting.

He said Ms Melu is a highly accomplished banker, not only in Zambia, but with global and regional experience.

Mr Mwanza said Ms Melu will be supported by a team of seasoned bankers who have also held various Executive portfolios locally and internationally.

“Ms Melu led the Association between 2011 and 2012, when she served as Standard Chartered Bank Chief Executive Officer,” he said.

She will be supported by Bydon Longwe as vice Chairperson, Mwindwa Siakalima as Treasurer and Kuldip Paliwal will as Executive committee member.

The Association has since congratulated the new office bearers and expressed gratitude to the outgoing BAZ Executive Committee.
