UPND National Chairperson Stephen Katuka says that the party is disturbed with the reports, learnt through the media that the Zambia medicines and medical supplies (ZAMMSA) distributed some of the drugs from the infamous honeybee scandal.
Mr Katuka said that these drugs have until now been under quarantine for failure to comply with established standards.
He said that this matter is at the heart of the President and his Vice President as their commitment to quality and affordable healthcare has not changed.
Mr Katuka said their resolve to fight corruption in drug procurement has only grown stronger as seen by their decision to allow investigative wings operate freely.
“We have cases in which people have been arrested in connection with this cancerous honeybee scandal. We therefore wish to advise the Minister of Health, Ms. Sylvia Masebo to get to the bottom of the said paracetamol distribution from the honeybee consignment and update the nation as a matter of urgency,” he said.
He said the honeybee scandal is a painful breach of trust by those who served in government offices connected to the matter and it remains as such.
