Minister Applauds Teachers

By IREEN MULENGA
Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima has applauded teachers that have continued to show commitment towards work despite working under difficult conditions.

Speaking during the hand-over ceremony of Kasumbalesa Primary School, Mr Syakalima said he was pleased that most teachers have continued to show commitment in imparting knowledge in learners despite facing various challenges.

In a statement by Assistant Public Relations Manager Evelyn Mulenga, the Minster assured them that Government was aware of the challenges and would look into the plight of both teachers and learners.

“The promotion of teachers would be based on merit as the Ministry would not tolerate illegalities during recruitments and promotions,” he said.

And speaking at the same event, Copperbelt Minister Mr Elisha Matambo thanked Zambian Border Crossing Company (ZipBCC) for their initiative to construct a new primary school in Kasumbalesa.

He said the learning facility would not only boost the morale of teachers but that of learners too.

Mr Matambo called on other organizations to emulate the gesture stating that it was a perfect example of sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility
