Solwezi District Education Standards Officer in charge of distance learning (DESO) Frank Kayula says his office will not tolerate School Head Teachers in Solwezi to abrogating the Government’s free education Policy.

Speaking in an interview with The Independent Observer, Mr Kayula said teachers in all Government Schools in the district asking parents to pay fees risk losing their jobs.

“Government has released the grants to all the government Schools both primary and secondary schools in a bid to actualize the free education Policy in Solwezi and North Western province as a whole,” he said.

Mr Kayula said that any head teacher from government Schools who will be found wanting will face the law.

“We want to urge our parents and guardians in Solwezi to ensure that no child is deprived of accessing Free Education”, he said.

And one of the parents Gift Mususu has praised Government for actualizing the free education Policy.

Mr Mususu said parents are excited with the free education Policy and this will motivate most parents to take their children to school.

“We as parents are excited with the free education Policy because this will persuade most parents especially in rural areas to take their children to school, it is now the duty of the Government to increase the number of infrastructures at Schools and equip them with desks to avoid children seating on the floor,” he said.

Mr Mususu said this is what Zambians wanted to change government and benefits from the policies
