Correctional facilities in the country set to start receiving mattresses for each inmate.
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister, Jack Mwiimbu says this will be done so as the Government waits to procure bunk-beds for inmates.
Mr Mwiimbu said that President Hichilema has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure each inmate is accorded a decent sleeping space.
He emphasised that the head of state is passionate about improving the conditions of all inmates in correctional facilities.
“I want to assure the Management at the Katombora Reformatory School that the Government will ensure all the challenges the institution is facing are addressed,” he said.
He was speaking during his familiarisation tour of Kazungula District.
