Solar panel criminals nabbed in Solwezi

Police in Solwezi have apprehended four people suspected to have stolen or Unlawfully obtained assorted items among them solar panels.

North Western Province Deputy Commissioner of police Fred Mulenga has confirmed the development that Gracia Lokota, Kinke Lokota, John Fweneti and Anthony Maambo where in possession of suspected stolen items.

Dr Mulenga said after interrogating them they led officers to the recovery of the items in one of the house.

He said a 10 by 260 watts solar panels believed to have been stolen from Kansanshi mines, one Dell monitor and Lenovo CPU marked GRZ/MOGE/SDSS 0136377 believed to have come from Solwezi Day Secondary School and two  Speakers where recovered.

“This was after Solwezi Criminal investigation Department (CID) received Information from reliable sources that there were criminals in possession of assorted stolen items in Kimasala area, the CID Officers followed up the information and apprehended the quartet,” he said.

Dr Mulenga said that the suspects are being interviewed to lead the police to the scenes of crime and the investigations are still on going.
