United Party for National Development Media Director Ruth Dante has appealed to Government to enact a law that will compel Political parties to have 50 percent women representation in decision making positions.
Ms Dante is saddened at the fact that no woman was adopted in the forthcoming Kabwata by elections.
She said that the need for competition to bring in money and energy has become a barrier for women to participate in the political arena.
“It true that elections are very competitive and to help out with the situation, Government should just enact a law that will compel 50 percent of women participations in Government position,” she said.
Ms Dante said once the law is enacted, Government will have no option as well as political but to follow the gender balance.
