The Governance, Elections, Advocacy, Research Services-GEARS-Initiative Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi has applauded Chief Justice Mumba Malila for launching the establishment of the fast-track economic courts that will focus on addressing economic crimes in Zambia.
Mr Chipenzi said fast-track economic courts will be key in addressing corruption, economic crimes and abuses that have been cited by various Government bodies such as the Financial Intelligence Centre-FIC-and Auditor General’s reports.
“The launch has come at a right when the country has been recording a lot of money laundering involving politically exposed persons and abuses as reported in the auditor General report,” he said.
He is hopeful that the courts will not be politicized but deliver the desired outcomes that will help reduce incidences of the occurrence of such crimes.
Mr Chipenzi also commended the New Don Administration for fulfilling their promise of establishment of fast track economic courts
