Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima has called on teachers to uphold the principles of their profession and show positive influence on their pupils.
Mr Syakalima said the teachers should live by the profession’s ethics and distance themselves from any conduct that could dent the image of the profession.
He said there is need for the teachers to strive towards raising standards of education in the country by showing commitment and passion for their work.
Mr Syakalima said that teaching must not be seen as a last career but a profession that is more important than any other.
He was speaking when he visited Muchinga province on a familiarization tour to check on school infrastructures.
Mr Syakalima also assured teachers in the province that their challenges will be looked into as Government has put the education sector at heart.
