South Sudan praises Zambia

The South Sudanese government has applauded Zambia for contributing to that country’s peace process through deployment of peace keeping forces.

South Sudan Presidential Affairs Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin says Zambia has been vital in South Sudan’s peace process.

Dr Benjamin said he is in the country as a special envoy of South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit to update President Hakainde Hichilema on how his country’s peace process is going and deliver a congratulatory message for emerging victorious in last year’s general election.

Speaking after a meeting with President Hichilema at his residence, Dr Benjamin said the two discussed how Zambia and Sudan can cooperate at the level of the African Union and United Nations.

He said the Sudanese President sent him to ask President Hichilema to assist his country share its challenges with the SADC region because of Zambia’s regional influence.

Dr Benjamin also thanked President Hichilema and Zambians for assisting his country gain independence as late President Kenneth Kaunda led the SADC support.
