Chingola’s Nchanga ward Councillor Jones Siluyele has proposed that each ward in the district should be given three causal workers who will work under the ward Development Committees.
Mr Siluyele said the causal workers will be mandated to assist, maintain and keep cleanness in the wards from time to time or in case of emergency works in wards.
He said during a special Council meeting that wards should not always wait for the funds like end of year to do the drainage unblocking or grass cutting.
“I think we should have these people at our disposal and this will make it easy for us because we will know that when we need something then we are just a phone call away,” he said.
And Chingola Mayor Johnson Kang’ombe said that the proposal was a good suggestion and his office will engage the relevant offices to deliberate on it.
