Police in Chingola have arrested a Pakistani national for beating a security guard.
Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga has confirmed the arrest of Jabran Naeem to Independent Observer in an interview.
Ms Katanga said Naeem 26, Security Manager at Zumran Mining and Exploration of Chingola’s Mimbula Township.
She said Naeem did beat up Lyombe Lazarous 24, of 220 Butondo Mufulira on September 30, this year around 2200hrs at Zumran mining and Exploration at Mimbula Chingola.
Ms Katanga said Mr Lyombe, a Security guard at Zumran was beaten and assaulted by Naeem after he defied his orders to allow workers who reported late for work in the night shift on the premises
She said Mr Lyombe sustained painful neck, head, ribs and general body pains.
“Fists (struggling) were alleged to have been used to inflict the injuries sustained. The docket opened and arrest made.
News on the ground is that Zumran has an expatriate that has been kept as a captive at the plant and is not allowed to go into town.
Zumran is in the outskirts of Chingola located about 25 kilometres in the forest.
On the material day the same expatriate sneaked out and went into town.
When word got to the ears of the Management that he had left the area, they ordered the guard not to open for him when he returns.
Upon arrival around 22: 00 hours, the expatriate was denied entry by the guard saying he had received instruction.
But after a second thought Mr Lyombe opted to open for him fearing that he may be killed because the area is a total bush.
