Seven people have died while 12 have sustained serious injuries in a road traffic accident along Kafue-Mazabuka road after a Motor Vehicle they were traveling in hit into a stationary Scania truck.
Five people died on the spot whilst two died on the way to Mazabuka General Hospital.
The accident happened near Pama meat area around 20:30 hours.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga Confirmed the development that a Toyota Hiace Minibus registration number ACT 6889 hit into a stationary Scania truck registration number AJC 2657 at pama meat area.
Mr Hamoonga said the Bus was driven by Mulenga Mulenga 28 and identified the deceased as Serina Chuulu 50, of Lusaka, Lisa Moon 42, of Mbole,Batoka ,Messiah Musaka 57, of Mbole ,Batoka and Raphael Moto 49, of unknown house number.
Others are Kenan Sichinga 28, of Kafue and two unidentified.
“All the injured including the driver are admitted to Mazabuka General Hospital while the bodies of the deceased in the hospital mortuary awaiting post- mortem and identification,”he said
