The National Committee of the Declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation has launched the National Covenant week to commemorate 30 years of Zambia as a Christian Nation.

National Committee, Chairperson Bishop Billy Mfula says Zambia will reach a milestone of 30 years as a Christian Nation on December, 29, 2021 and events will be held country wide to celebrate.

Bishop Mfula said 30 years means Zambia has matured to handle its domestic and external challenges without any external influence.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, Bishop Mfula said Zambia’s declaration as a Christian Nation by the Late President Frederick Chiluba has been a key factor that has contributed to the peace and national stability, the country is known for worldwide.

“The committee will visit prisons, orphanages and hospitals to preach the word of God and deliver the word of hope; we also will be donating hampers to children in hospitals that will be born on the December,29 to embrace this historic occasion,” he said.

Bishop Mfula has also appealed to all Zambians to follow Covid 19 guidelines as emphasized by government as they celebrate the festivities.

Zambia was declared a Christian Nation in 1991 by second Republican President Frederick Chiluba in December of 1991.
