An Environmentalist and conservationist in North Western Province John Kalusa says the dry spell the country has experienced in the past two weeks will negatively have an impact on food security in the country in 2022.
Speaking on Radio in Solwezi Mr Kalusa said that the effects of climate change has instigated to show serious impacts on human lives and the farmers in North Western Province.
He said the dry spell has directly affected small and large scale farmers for most of them who planted their maize fields are drying.
“Farmers across the country especially in provinces where the dry spell was too much will not have bumper harvest in the next season,” he said.
The environmentalist and ecologist has urged the people in the province to be climate smart to avoid more impacts of climate in future.
“We are calling on our government to come in and control activities that contributes to effects of climate charge such as indiscriminate of cutting trees”, he said
Mr Kalusa further appealed to the government to control food security in the country by regulating food exports.
