Consistency and Leadership

By Rev.Clifford Chisha
Starting up something good is good and sustaining it is better.

Many organisations introduce good programs or products but fail to sustain them due to inconsistency.

Leaders are largely responsible for the inconsistency.

The habit of doing the same thing regularly is what consistency is.

Consistency is sticking to the same good values and principles regardless of the situation or environment.

Trust is earned and for you or your organisation to earn it, consistency is cardinal.

People tend to depend on those who are consistent. Consistency almost naturally attracts trust.

Consistency attracts respect.

People find it easy to trust and respect those who are consistent.

Those who mean what they say and do what they say can easily be trusted and respected.

The people you lead will know what to expect from you and when to expect what from you.

Steady progress and/or growth are among the benefits of consistency.
Consistency does not just bring progress, it brings steady progress and sustains it.

Consistency gives you visibility.
When your brand stay around for a relatively longer period of time, the chances that you will be noticed are very high.

One of the contributing factors to Moses’success in leadership was consistency.

Exodus 8:1 “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.”

He was given one message, – “let my people go,” and he delivered it several times.
Exodus 5:1, 7:16, 8:1, 8:20, 8:21, 9:1, 9:13 and 10:3

Each time he faced serious challenges or was unsure of what to do, he went to consult the one who gave him the message.
He inquired of Jehovah, the one who had given him the assignment to deliver the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Allow me to suggest that one of the reasons the children of Israel used to cry to Moses each time they faced serious challenges was that they trusted Moses.
They knew he would cry to Jehovah and receive lasting solutions.

He always came up with something helpful each time he ran to the living God.

Inconsistency has led to the downfall of many leaders and organisations.

Endeavour to be consistent and you will one day be considered to be contenders of those who deserve great respect and trust.
