ZNBC among media companies owing Napsa

Information and Media Minister Chushi Kasanda has engaged labour and Social Security minister Brenda Tambatamba to find a solution to the debt that the three public media institutions owe the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA).

The media houses are Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Times of Zambia and Zambia Daily Mail.

Ms Kasanda said as at December 31st 2020, ZNBC owed NAPSA over 876 million Kwacha.

“Since December 2020, the Corporation has endeavored to pay monthly contributions of about K800,000, I have  requested that Napsa honors pension benefits claims from separated employees to avoid them going into destitution while the matter is being resolved by the two institutions,” she said.

Ms Kasanda said the amount owed by Zambia Daily Mail is not known while Times of Zambia owes Napsa about 19.3 Million Kwacha.

And, Ms Tambatamba said the team will have to go back and do further consultations and have another meeting on December 20th.

She said it is good to discuss issues and find solutions.

The two ministers were accompanied by their Permanent Secretaries, ZNBC Management, Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia Management at the Ministry of Labour in Lusaka.
