NDC gives olive branch to defectors to rejoin

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party National Governing Council has resolved to give an olive branch to all members who defected to other political parties to rejoin the party ahead of the 2026 general elections.

NDC President Saboi Imboela thanked the members of the Central Committee for the resolute decision to extend an olive branch to members who were misled or defected to other parties to reunite with the true NDC during this year’s festive season.

” The Central Committee encouraged to see our members sacrifice their resources from far and wide to ensure that this National Governing Council meeting is a success, Zambia needs members of this Calibre to meaningfully grow the nation’s democracy and it is this spirit that has seen our members give an olive branch to their colleagues to come back home,” she said.

Ms Imboela also urged members of the Central Committee to engage all members to continue with party mobilisation as Zambians are already getting eager for the 2026 general elections.

“NDC is Zambia’s alternative government come 2026 and this has to be demonstrated in all our activities across the ten provinces of the country, the country needs men and women who are committed to the people through being relevant to the needs of the people,” she said.

Ms Imboela was speaking shortly after a National Governing Council meeting in Lusaka.

The NDC’s Central Committee members further ratified the appointments of James Zulu as National Chairman for Finance, Cecilia Ngosa, Matilda Mutambo, Purity Chipungu, Edward Bwalya and Jonathan Banda.
