Solwezi Municipal Council (SMC)has procured sports equipment for Solwezi United Football Club at a cost of K76, 600.00 in an effort to promote sporting activities.
The items procured include: 30 Pairs of Boots, 25 Tango Pasadena, Five Rubber Balls, One Goal Net, 20 Shin Guards, 4 Goal Keeper Gloves, 30 Flat Cones, Two Stop Watches and Two sets Of Jerseys.
Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa who graced the handover ceremony of the sports equipment to Solwezi United assured the Football Club of the Local Authority’s continued support.
Mr Kalepa encouraged the players to put in their best by being hard working and disciplined as Soccer as a sport can be a Career that can improve their lives and families.
He said that if they were disciplined and focused, they are able to excel like other Zambian players such as Patson Daka, Enock Mwepu and Fashion Sakala who are representing Zambia well in the diaspora.
Mr Kalepa has called on stakeholders to come on board and support Solwezi United Football Club in order for the club to attain greater heights
And the Town Clerk Bornwell Luanga who was represented by Director Housing and Social Services Andrew Kalemba echoed the Mayor’s sentiments by indicating that the Local Authority will supporting the football club to ensure that the team continues performing well through various sponsorships so that they can be promoted to the Eden University League and eventually the MTN Super League.
