Nchanga ward Councillor Jones Siluyele has urged residents of SQ section in Nchanga North to desist from throwing waste in drainages to avoid blockages as the rains are around the corner.
Mr Siluyele said that people should take responsibility on where to throw garbage.
He said the rain period is sensitive to diseases and to prevent the outbreak of water borne diseases like cholera and typhoid people should be cautious.
Mr Siluyele was speaking yesterday after some cleaning works in the area which involved unblocking of
“We are approaching the rainy season, so let us all ensure that we stop throwing refuse in the drainages. We have unlocked the drainages and it’s up to you to appreciate what we are doing and maintain them,” he said.
Mr Siluyele has also commended Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) through Cooperate Social Responsibility (CRC) for working with the community by providing the Loader that has made the work easier in collections of Garbage.
