Chingola district has flagged the distribution of farming inputs under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP)and the district has been allocated 36,297 of D compound and 28,795 of Urea 50kgs fertilizer.
And District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO) Philip Kalima said out of 36, 297 10,200 by 50kgs of D compound has been delivered and out of 28,795 of Urea 5,400 by 5okgs has been delivered.
Mr Kalima said that the district also received 8,494 by 10kgs maize seeds and 1, 000 by 50kg Soya bean seeds, and 1,500 by 5kg Sorghum seeds
Speaking at the flag off, Acting Chingola District Commissioner Maximillian Makasa thanked government for releasing the farming inputs on time.
Mr Makasa said that motivated farmers produce good harvests that can help reduce poverty in the district and the country at large.
“These inputs that government has given you the farmers please ensure that you put them to go use, and am pleading with you not to sale these inputs because government puts great importance in ensuring farmers get 100% yields, we want to defeat poverty in the district,” he said.
And one of the beneficiaries Richard Chiluba thanked government for delivering the farming inputs on time.
Mr Chiluba said that the inputs have come at the right time as he has already started farming the next season.
Another beneficiary Judith Chikuli, a farmer in Kasongo said that they are motivated to work harder.
She said that it is inspiring to farm knowing that fertilizer is readily available without any stress.
The beneficiaries expected to benefit from the farming inputs this year are 9,999, each is expected to receive 6 by 50kgs of fertilizer.
