TIZ challenges UPND to curb electoral violence

By IREEN MULENGA
Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Executive Director Maurice Nyambe has condemned political violence saying it has no place in the electoral process.

Mr Nyambe said political violence of any sort and by any entity as it undermines the credibility of elections.

Mr Nyambe is also concerned that political violence that became the hallmark of the last five years perpetrated largely by the UPND and PF appears to have continued even after the August 12 A general elections.

He has since challenged the ruling UPND, to demonstrate that they will not continue with the lawlessness and intolerance that was common prior to the August 12 2021.

“ As TIZ we would like to condemn the violence that is taking place in the country, especially the one that happened in Petauke district, I think Zambians had enough of that lawlessness and it time for the UPND Government to act and put an end to this,” he said.

Mr Nyambe has called on the Zambians Police in Petauke to investigate the matter toughly so that the people involved should account for their actions.
