Chipangali Council Completes First Phase of Drilling Boreholes

The First Phase of Drilling Boreholes in Chipangali District which was launched last week by Chipangali District Council Chairperson has been completed.

Chipangali District Council Chairperson Maxson Nkhoma said the Local Authority embarked on a robust program of Drilling Boreholes in all the eight Wards of the district.

Mr Nkhoma said drilling of Boreholes is being done in three phases and all eight Wards will benefit in the first phase.

He said the second Phase of Drilling Boreholes which will see Chipangali District benefiting 12 Boreholes will commence next week with support from Pamodzi Ndi Ana, Non-governmental organization.

Mr Nkhoma said areas where these 12 Boreholes will be drilled have already been identified.

He said out of the 12 Boreholes, 9 will be drilled in Schools with the aim of enhancing access to safe and clean drinking water to school children while 3 Boreholes will be drilled in Villages.

The Council Chairperson expressed gratitude to its partners such as Pamodzi Ndi Ana, JTi Company, DirectAid Zambia who have been very helpful to the people of Chipangali on development matters.

Mr Nkhoma said in the third Phase Chipangali District Council will drill 16 Boreholes which will be shared in all the the eight Wards of Chipangali District commencing in mid-November 2021

“I wish to urge  the people of Chipangali District those without access to safe and clean drinking  water  to register their villages through their Royal Highness and area Councillors so that they can be enlisted to benefit a Borehole from the Council.

“As Chipangali Council Chairperson I remain resolved to ensuring that villages and communities are provided with adquate access to safe and clean drinking water within the next five years,” he said.

Villages that benefited one Borehole each during the first phase which ended yesterday are Mundulu Village of Sisinje Ward, Mdika Village in Lukhuswe Ward,  Juma Village in Rukuzye Ward and Mazyula Area in Kasenga Ward

Others are Mateleka Village in Nthope Ward,  Zileo Village in Msandile Ward,  Mtambalala Village in Chipangali Ward and Chandawila Village in Mazatuwa Ward.
