Zambia’s Welterweight Queen Lolita Muzeya on Tuesday arrived in the United Kingdom to take on Middleweight champion Savannah Marshall of Britain.
She is accompanied to the United Kingdom by her Manager, Vernon Mwaanga, Matchmaker, Christopher Malunga and her trainer, Greetings Kaonga.
Muzeya also took time to visit the Zambia High Commission in London and was received by Defence Attach, Brigadier General David Mwanza.
In an interview, the Welterweight Queen said she is not underrating her opponent, but she is confident of beating Savannah Marshall in her own backyard.
“I am not underrating my opponent; she is a good fighter, and I am ready and looking forward to a good fight. This is the biggest fight of my career. I want to assure Zambians that I am here to win and make my country, Zambia, proud,” she said.
And Brigadier General Mwanza said boxing is a unifying sport and called on Zambians in the United Kingdom to turn up in numbers in Newcastle to give Muzeya support in Saturday’s fight.
“Zambians are known to be good boxers. I am proud to see a lot of women having an interest in boxing. We are proud of you, and we know that you will make us proud. I have no doubt that you came here for one thing and that is winning. Stay focused, this is your moment to shine. Zambians both home and away are behind you,” he said.
Muzeya makes her debut on the European stage on October 16 when she takes on World Boxing Organization Female Middleweight champion Savannah Marshall of Britain at the Newcastle Arena in Newcastle.
The two 30-year olds have put their unbeaten pro records on the line heading into Saturday’s WBO title fight on Tyneside.World Boxing Council Silver Female Welterweight champion from Zambia hopes to add the WBO title to her repertoire.
Muzeya has held the WBC Silver Welterweight crown since 2016 and interestingly that was a year before her opponent Marshall turned pro.
Marshall on the other hand will be making the third defence of her WBO belt that she has successfully retained by knockouts.
But Muzeya heads to Newcastle with better mileage on her pro record with 16 fights, no draws with eight coming by knockouts.
The WBO champion has ten fights, and like Muzeya, she too has eight knockouts.Saturday’s WBO title fight will be live on Sky Sport Boxing
