The opposition new hope Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) Spokesperson Cephas Mukuka has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to arrest all those that were involved in corrupt activities under the Patriotic Front-PF.
Dr Mukuka has welcomed President Hichilema’s directive to ensure that all public procurement of goods are duly followed.
Speaking in an interview with Independent Observer today, Dr Mukuka is of the view that the directive made by the head of state will only be effective unless those involved in stealing country’s money are brought to book.
“As a Nation we have lost a lot of money as revealed by the Auditor General, time and again, so these people who are corrupt and with no respect to the rule of law should be brought to book so that others can learn from them. As long as no one is brought to book those directives will be a political song which is going end up being boring,” he said.
He said Zambians are tired of hearing the same thing and they want those people to be arrested and go to prison.
Dr Mukuka was reacting to the latest auditor general’s report which revealed increased wasteful spending of public resources.
And Foundation for Democratic Process-Executive Director George Chimembe has urged President Hakainde Hichilema to use the recent auditor general’s report which revealed increased wasteful spending of public resources to fight corruption.
