ZLA calls for agent clean up of Land registry

By IREEN MULENGA
Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA) has called for an urgent clean up of the Land Registry and the Ministry of Lands as a whole so as to implement a clear roadmap of enhancing the security of land management.

ZLA Executive Director Patrick Musole has since urged Minister of lands and Natural Resources Elijah Muchima to expedite the implementation of an audit of the Land Registry to ensure that all illegalities are unearthed and punished.

Mr Muscle said that the longer this waits the more evidence is wiped as the perpetrators of land illegalities are still within the system.

“As Zambia Land Alliance we are grateful that Minister of land has finally agreed with us and shares our views on a range of land governance issues which includes the presence of people in the ministry who have been involved in legal issues and self certification.

“Also legal inversion of private land and lack of community participation in land allocation by chief,” he said.
Mr Musole has called on the ZLA to agently conclude on the review of Land Management policy.
